For Whom the Bells [Beach] Toll?

A French surfer has escaped with only four stitches after punching a shark during an attack at Victoria's Bells Beach.
"Many Australians who rose early and followed instructions to “look east” on Wednesday morning have witnessed a meteor shower made up of “dust” shed from Halley’s comet.
On top of the meteor shower, a bright and beautiful comet was also visible from the sky.
The meteor shower, the Eta Aquarids, was best viewed between 2am and 5am while the comet remained visible for half an hour before 5am.
Those who caught a glimpse of the spectacle turned to social media to describe the “awesome” sights.
The Sydney Observatory said the shower would offer “returns for early risers” who looked east between 3.30am and 5.30am.
“You’ll see shooting stars or meteors appearing to fly outwards from
Aquarius,” the observatory said on Twitter yesterday.
“They are dust that was shed from Comet Halley long, long ago.”

Update: May 13th, 2020
Five experienced surfers are dead and another is missing after disappearing in freak swell conditions created by a sea foam “avalanche”.
"Dutch authorities said a group of six surfers jumped into the sea late Monday [May 11th] at Scheveningen, a suburb of The Hague on the North Sea, and were later reported missing.
“When a group of people went surfing early in the evening, no one expected that some would not come home,” The Hague Mayor Johan Remkes said in a statement.

  2. I'm actually dying to have a walk again on my favourite beach, but I'll have to wait until the state border between New South Wales and Queensland is open again:-(
