Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic to Be Felt for Years?

Denmark, Iceland and Norway suspends use of AstraZeneca vaccine?
One expert has warned the world will still be experiencing major impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic into 2022 and beyond, describing this as a “fragile moment in modern world history”.
Debate continues about the efficacy rate of the different types of vaccine
I'm not an anti-vaxer, but I don't think I'll be rushing to get the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine the way it seems to be performing.
It sounds like a very poor cousin to the rest of the vaccines to me.
And it sounds like they are just trying to "patch" up the damaging news reports now for a fast buck.
The speed it's rolling out in Australia means I won't probably be able to get it until 2022 even if I wanted to get it, which I'm not sure that I will now anyway.

  1. Having friends high up in both companies; they suggested, over a beer, that if you really wanted to get a vax - they were opting out - then get the Russian one. It’s adenovirus based and has been tested for over 20 years. I personally wouldn’t get a vax for a disease that mutates, one of the reasons I don’t get the flu vax.

For me it’s a paradox as I tend to lean towards ‘transhumanist’ ideas as a form of evolution and usurping the ‘gods’. But then I ask myself, at what cost?

  2. Yeah, I heard that the Russian one is meant to be pretty good.
And that's the same reason I've never have had a flu shot either.
But I hate hospitals and don't want to end up on a ventilator if I do pick up the virus down the track, so I'm willing to take a vaccine shot that is effective to some degree, but the Astra one sounds almost like a deadly placebo compared to the rest of 'em to me.
