Having just watched the BBC 1967 version of ‘Wuthering Heights’ on the internet, because I read that Kate Bush saw the ghost of Catherine at the window in this series, which inspired Kate to write her hit 1978 song, singing as the ghost of Catherine, I couldn’t help thinking Stanley Kubrick may have seen the 1967 BBC series and got some ideas for his 1980 movie version of Stephen King’s 1977 novel ‘The Shining’ because in the final scene of the 1967 BBC series they chop through Heathcliff’s bedroom door with an axe to find him frozen to death near an open window, the victim of a ghostly woman in the night.
Hmm.
