Synchromysticism

" Synchromysticism:
The art of realizing meaningful coincidence in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance."

The Interviewer Becomes the Interviewed?👽👾🛸

I find it amusing that in the age of the podcast there are a lot of people who become minor celebrities on the net because of the people they have interviewed in the past on their own podcast show, rather than becoming famous on their own terms and not just because of the people they have interviewed.
Gordon White of the Rune Soup blog and podcast and Mike Clelland of the 'Hidden Experience' blog and podcasts come to mind of examples of podcasters who have risen to minor fame because of the guests they have interviewed on their own shows and have in turn been chased by podcasters who probably want to do the same thing through who they interview on their own podcast show.

Foul Owl on the Prowl?

Well, Speak of the Davis, Ain' t That Weird?🌃🌉

I had just written a post about P.K. Dick featuring an old 'Aeon Byte Radio' interview with Erik Davis and as I'm wondering what Erik has been up to recently the latest 'Weird Studies' podcast hits my Apple Podcast playlist featuring an interview with Erik Davis ... and I had just had 3 fillings done at the dentist on September 26th, 2023, to put a P.K. Dick 'VALIS' spin on my life:-)I won't be reading 'The Night Land' (abridged or otherwise) anytime soon with the reading list I already have before me ... before I die -

The Challenges of Writing a Novel ... and Owls? 📚🦉

Humm ... the "Owl Guy" puts a post up on the 26th of September and an "Owl Guy" passes away on the 28th of September?
I'll bet Joanne Rowling could tell Mike a thing or two about writing novels, but he could probably tell her a thing or two about owls and synchronicity?-)

Why Do We Push People Away?✋

A 'This Jungian Life' podcast titled 'Why Do We Push People Away? Understanding Our Defenses' dropped unto my Apple Podcast playlist after I had posted my last post about Oscar Wilde and it made me think of the British comedian Dick Emery and how some of his characters would say "Oh, you are awful, but I like you" and then give them a hard push -
Seems like Emery would often push people away in his real life, as well, after watching a You Tube titled 'Dick Emery - Famous Grave - Ooh You Are AWFUL... but I LIKE YOU!'.
But how much of what is said in that You Tube just mythistory?

The Mythistory of Oscar Wilde?🗽👻

Having read
/listened to Oscar Wilde's novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' recently I wanted to know more about Wilde's history and other works he had written.
Being a straight male guy myself it's hard for me to understand the attraction of male homosexuality, pardon the pun, but hey, whatever floats your boat I say.
I've always considered myself a lesbian trapped in a male body, so I can understand female homosexuality way more than I can get my head around male homosexuality ... no pun intended there, if there is one that is:-)
I was hoping to watch the movie 'Wilde' starring Stephen Fry after viewing a trailer but can't find it to rent or to watch on You Tube, so I watched 'The Happy Prince' on the SBS free streaming service the other night and wondered what this story being told to the boys by Wilde (Everett) in this movie was all about and gives the film its title.
Turns out to my ignorance it was a children's story Wilde wrote.
Weirdly, I've also recently read Victoria Nelson's book 'The Secret Life of Puppets' where she mentions the ancient Egyptians and ancient Greeks believing souls could be literally enslaved in statues.

Now I'm fascinated by the acting roles of Rupert Everett and want to binge watch his movies at a later date.
Bloody rabbit holes>:-)
I was interested to hear this 'British Scandal' podcast episode below featuring an interview with Oscar's grandson (Merlin Holland), which made me think, just who can you believe when it comes to "history"?
History is just a "he said, she said" account of what is to have supposed to have happened in the past, and human nature being what it is, just who can you believe when it comes to "history"?
History
is always going to be a rough account of what happened, unless you have reliable film footage, maybe?
Great Lives: Oscar Wilde
But I've enjoyed listening to the podcasts I have found on the net, as I try to piece together a mental jig-saw puzzle of just who Oscar was and his influence on the "Collective Unconsciousness" of western society and the world in general, to now and into the future.
Happened Here Podcast: Oscar Wilde
Fascinating stuff, even for a straight bloke like me.

Synchromysticism in Movies?🎥🐰🎬

When it comes to "synchromysticism" I'm in the Jake Kotze camp, not the paranoid "Hollywood is DOOMED" Christopher Knowles camp.
It's always fun reading Knowles' rants though and watch him shoot his own feet off with his "prophetic predictions" about the demise of Hollywood.
He's like a DOOMIE who keeps changing the date of the apocalypse when his prediction inevitably fails to come to pass:-)
Remember Knowles' prediction about 'Avatar 2' ... I think he made a similar prediction about 'Barbie' too? -

David McCallum Starred in The Night of the Lepus and Passed Away in the Year of the Rabbit?🕳🐇

I only remember
David McCallum being in the TV show 'The Invisible Man' in the 70s and popping up in bit parts in various TV shows over the years but ironically, he was in a movie called 'Night of the Lepus' (AKA 'Rabbits') and passed away in 2023, the Year of the Rabbit.
Although, it was one of those "blink and you'll miss it" parts by the looks, as I watched the movie this afternoon and must have blinked when he was on screen.
Rory Calhoun also passed away in the Year of the Rabbit, 1999, as did DeForest Kelley on June 11th, that same year.
Beloved NCIS actor
David McCallum dead at 90
David McCallum starred in a movie about Freud called 'The Secret Passion' (AKA 'Freud').
Freud passed away in 1939, the Year of the Rabbit on September 23rd.
David passed away 2 days after September 23.
Freud (1962)
Close but no cigar;-)

August 29, 1962)
And there's that triggering date August 29th that I wrote about in my last post -
20th Century Mysticism and the G Word?👼⛪👻
Oh, and playing at the drive-in in 'Night of the Lepus' (AKA 'Rabbits') is 'Every Little Crook and Nanny', a 1972 comedy film starring Victor Mature who came out of retirement to play the role.

20th Century Mysticism and the G Word?👼⛪👻

I have no objection to people using the word "God" when talking about the foundation of all beings, I just don't like humans telling me what "God" is and what will happen to me if I don't believe in their idea of what "God" is to them.
I'm not having a crack at Jake Kotze with his latest sync short, as I can quite well resonate with his words in that video, not that I know what his ultimate belief in "God" is.
I guess when it comes to "God" I'm spiritual, but not religious, as the old saying goes, even though I am a member of the Liberal Catholic Church to this day.
And watching the latest 'New Thinking Allowed' video (above) reminds me that I must read Manly's book, which I have had sitting on my bookshelf for years, largely unread.
August 29th ... now there's a date to trigger another self-professed "synchromystic" I know, hey Chris?-)
