Straight Shooter: If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears?

Was there a sub-theme running through 'Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood' of an exploration of sexual consent, underage sex and rape, looking back from the age of #MeToo?
Nine things to know before you see Tarantino’s
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
"At first listen, the song perfectly sums up the sunny L.A. scene before the specter of Manson and his followers cast a pall over the peace and love.
But the soundtrack has a more sinister implication.
When investigators combed through the living room where Sharon Tate lay dead at 10050 Cielo Drive on the morning after the murders, they found a grand piano mere feet from her body.
Resting on the music stand was the sheet music for Straight Shooter
Tate and her husband, Polish director Roman Polanski, were friends with the Mamas and the Papas, who had scored hits like “Monday, Monday” and “California Dreaming” earlier in the decade.

In fact, the trailer references a party at the house of Mama Cass — the vivacious vocalist who presided over the vibrant Laurel Canyon artist scene like a hippie Gertrude Stein.
Polanski
and Tate were also close to the group’s married members, John and Michelle Phillips — perhaps too close.

Shortly before Tate’s death, the filmmaker had a brief affair with Michelle while in London scouting locations for a film.
In the aftermath of the murder, a devastated and confused Polanski suspected John of orchestrating the crime as revenge for sleeping with his wife.
John claimed Polanski threatened him with a meat cleaver, and the director himself later admitted that he would drop by the Phillips’ home, ostensibly just to visit, in order to sneak into their garage and check for blood splatter on their cars.
“I was looking for someone who knew us, who somehow was connected to us,” he said in a 1983 interview."
Incest allegations
"In September 2009, eight years after John Phillips's death, his eldest daughter Mackenzie claimed that she and her father had a 10-year incestuous relationship.
Mackenzie wrote of the relationship, which she said began when she was 19 years old in 1979, in her memoir High on Arrival.
Mackenzie wrote that the relationship began after Phillips raped her while they were both under the influence of heavy narcotics on the eve of her first marriage.
Mackenzie Phillips appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show on September 23, 2009, and told Winfrey that her father injected her with cocaine and heroin.
According to Phillips, the incestuous relationship ended when she became pregnant and did not know who had fathered the child.
As her story goes, these doubts resulted in an abortion, which her father paid for, "and," she stated, "I never let him touch me again."
Geneviรจve Waรฏte, John's wife at the time, denies the allegations, saying they were inconsistent with his character.

Michelle Phillips, John's second wife, also stated that she had "every reason to believe [Mackenzie's account is] untrue."
Chynna Phillips, Michelle Phillips' daughter, stated that she believed Mackenzie's claims and that Mackenzie first told her about the relationship during a phone conversation in 1997, approximately 11 years after the supposed relationship had ended.
Mackenzie's half-sister Bijou Phillips from her father's marriage to Geneviรจve Waรฏte has stated that Mackenzie informed her of the relationship when Bijou was 13 years old, and the information had a devastating effect on Bijou's teenage years, stripping her of her innocence and leaving her "wary of [her] father."
She also stated "I'm 29 now, I've talked to everyone who was around during that time, I've asked the hard questions.
I do not believe my sister.
Our father [was] many things.
This is not one of them."
Jessica Woods, daughter of Denny Doherty, said that her father had told her that he knew "the awful truth," and that he was "horrified at what John had done."
And of course, there are the infamous allegations and charges against Roman Polanski that you can read about at his Wikipedia page if you aren't familiar with them.
And let's not forget that 'Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood' opened in American cinemas on Stanley Kubrick's and Carl Jung's birthday of July 26th ... coincidentally of course;-)
And 2019 is the 20th anniversary of 'Eyes Wide Shut' and Kubrick's passing away.
I guess in the times we are living in of what Trump calls "fake news" you'd have to ask yourself when you read posts like this is he just "faking it"?-)
And if Quentin needed any ideas for a prequel to his ninth movie, Anger's 'Hollywood Babylon' turns 60 this year, too.
"Anger stated for years he intended to write a Hollywood Babylon III, and in a 2010 interview he said that it had been finished but was placed on hold, explaining, "The main reason I didn't bring it out was that I had a whole section on Tom Cruise and the Scientologists.
I'm not a friend of the Scientologists.""
