You Can Lead a Horse to Water But You Can't Make It Drink?

I saw a two-page spread across pages 12 & 13 in my local newspaper about the mental health battles of famous Australian jockey Glen Boss recalling his battles with depression and "self medication" to try and cope with life.
And right next to Glen's story is an advert for Star Liquor advertising their weekly booze specials.
While I like a drink as much as the next fellow Australian, I couldn't help thinking, is the editor of this newspaper a mindless fool for placing that liquor ad next to Boss' euphemistic booze battle, or a callous marketing genius leading the thirsty horses to water ... so to speak?
