The Irony of Veganism and Eating Animals?

I saw these news headlines today -
Vegan protests block busy Melbourne intersection, target Sydney, Brisbane and Hobart
Suspected poacher killed by elephant and eaten by lions in South Africa
That's not a poacher being eaten by the way,
but it ain't a vegetable either:-)
And while I'm not a Vegan, or even a Vegetarian and follow a dairy-free and meatless diet (except for eating sustainable fish now and again) more for health reasons, more than anything, I have nothing against the ideals of Vegans not wanting to hurt or inflict pain on animals.
But the animal kingdom is a pretty viscous and cruel place, and a lot of the animal kingdom is anything but Vegan in its approach.
The "Natural" Taste for Meat?
Rhapsody In Bluebottles: Gershwin?
Smells like Jellyfish?
And while I'm all for Vegans and Vegetarians spreading the word about the benefits of those lifestyles, I'm right against militant protests, which only really repel meat-eaters away from such lifestyles anyway.
Using a carrot is a much better way than using a stick, especially when it comes to Vegan and Vegetarian lifestyles:-)
Bon appΓ©tit?
