Transitions From War: Life, Death and the Space Between?

I noticed a news story yesterday about a fellow Australian who killed himself, but unlike me he was what is often referred to in the media as a combat veteran -
Hottest Brisbane Day on Record Since 1981 and Sergeant Frost Found Dead?
I think on a planet like the one we are living on, that there will always be a need for countries to have an army.
But I, like most people, hope those armies are used for the right reasons, as in defense, and not attack.
Still, in a world full of corporate greed and lies as truth, it's hard to know just what you are really being sent to fight for as a soldier in not just modern warfare, but any warfare that there has ever been, or will be.
"Perhaps more tragic is that former Sergeant Kevin Frost is one of more than 400 Australian Defence Force members who have taken their own lives either while serving the country or after service since 2001.
Many of them – including Perth-based Sergeant Frost – were the subjects of drug trials that have since been found to have adverse effects including hallucinations, depression and suicidal ideation.
The 45-year-old was reported missing from his Busselton home over the weekend, but his family later confirmed his body had been found.
"

I also happened to listen to a podcast yesterday at the 'Life, Death and Space Between' podcast with a war vet named Mike Ergo who runs (pardon the pun:-) the 'Transitions From War' website -
LIFE, DEATH AND THE SPACE BETWEEN PODCAST: WAR AND PEACE(FUL) WITH MIKE ERGO
Mike just about to cross the finishing line?-)
I couldn't help but notice the word "CLIF" and see the G on a pillar at the finishing post as Mike was about to run past it in the photo above, and think is there really ever a finishing line to cross when it comes to life ... or death?
The Feeling of Sync?
I also noticed that Mike has the word "EGO" embedded in his surname of "ERGO", which seemed somewhat metaphorical for all race contestants on this planet, don't you think?
Well, I do anyway;-)
