A Real Sliding Doors Moment?

I heard David on the 'Life, Death and the Space Between' podcast where he tells of his life after nearly losing it from being dragged under a train after get his clothing caught in a closing train door while fare-welling a friend who was on the train.
I couldn't help thinking how this was a real different spin on that movie 'Sliding Doors', where David both caught the train and missed it at the same time, like some morbidly humorous Schrodinger's cat moment.
It's Never Meant to End Like This?
Released on May Day?!
It's certainly a remarkable tale of survival either way.
Checkout other interviews, paintings and music that David has done since that "sliding door" moment that changed his life for good here.

UPDATE: November 17th 3:40pm
"A man has severed his foot after falling from a train platform at Sydney's Town Hall station.
It is believed the man, aged in his 60s, became stuck under one of the trains.
He suffered a part amputation of one of his feet and serious head and leg injuries, a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said.
Paramedics rushed the man to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, where he is in a stable condition.
"Sydney Trains can confirm an elderly male customer has been transported to hospital with injuries after an incident at 12:07pm today at Town Hall Station," A Sydney Trains spokesperson told nine.com.au.
"While circumstances are still being investigated, it would appear the man accidentally fell onto the tracks into the path of an oncoming train.
