  1. It's truly amazing how this Joker is resonating with so many things right now!

  2. I think it's what Jung would term the "collective unconscious" really trying to burst through to us and slap our conscious zombie faces awake ironically, which sounds like a joke in itself.
That's what great art, comedy and drama is all about, where the artist is just a willing or unwilling conduit bringing to the surface what is welling below the surface.
Serious times call for great comedy and drama to mull over before things become too "consciously" tragic and the world becomes one great asylum, if it isn't already.
I'm not saying that people like Todd Phillips and Mr.Phoenix are deliberately bringing the CU to the surface, because it is as old (way older) as the tarot deck journey of the Fool.
Great drama and comedy (such as Stanley Kubrick's art) holds a mirror to society and the selfish self (hence all the mirrors in 'Joker') and sometimes we don't like the truths we see reflected back at us from mediums like the silver screen, the novel and comic book pages, and even that black little mirror in our modern pockets.
In reality the so called "conscious" self is asleep and the "unconscious" self is awake to what's really going on.
Then again what would a clown like me know ... honk, honk:-)

  3. The Joker is the dark side of The Fool's journey and is a journey that rarely ends well for The World, if left to carry on ... I think anyway.
And of course the World we are living in right now is turning very dark, very quickly.
Hopefully, this is just the darkness before dawn and not the Death card being drawn.
I saw 'Joker' again last night with my sons and
SPOILER ALERT TO THOSE YET TO SEE THE MOVIE ...
noticed when Joker comes out of his appointment with the shrink in Arkham leaving a trail of bloody footprints that there is a small black 13 on the wall to the right-hand side of the viewer, which could be a reference to the #13 card of the tarot and all its connotations for the world Arthur lives in?
And if you take note of the clock faces in the movie, most (well all the three I saw anyway) were showing the time of 11:11, which to me is Todd's snarky way of showing that people (like me:-) who make a big deal out of seeing the number all the time are probably suffering from a mental delusion, or it's just Todd's cruel Trickster of the universe playing a joke on the Joker, as in where is your angel now Arthur?
Then again maybe it was Todd's way of showing how Arthur ignored his "wake up call"?
