Children's Day 2020?

Well, how much can change in one year?
I ripped away the page of May 31st to see that it was "Children's Day" (in China/Hong Kong) once more, and having written a post around this time last year about looking to what Children's Day 2040 might look like, I couldn't help thinking that the human population of the Earth might be flat-out getting out of 2020 alive, never mind getting to 2040 -

It looks more like the world is heading for a repeat of 1939, rather than towards 2040 to me.
